How to Look Amazing in a Denim Mini Skirt
Spring is in full effect and its time to get those summer looks ready. One of my current obsessions is the denim mini skirt, no not your 2003 denim skirt but this trend is new and improved and I'm going to show you how to style this piece in 4 different ways. for me its all about finding the right cut to your mini that will flatter your figure. I prefer an A-line style that is tighter around the waist, then skims over the hips to a slight flare. In this post I am wearing a GRlfrnd denim mini skirt from revolve, it is the perfect cut for my figure and the wash is perfection!
i hope you find a few helpful tips here and feel free to like, comment, and share!
Classic and Tailored
This is the perfect way to elevate a mini skirt and make it feel more polished. Since we are showing leg here I added a structured button down with a high collar to balance the look. To keep the look classic a flat or low heel is perfect, and I went with a round toe for a more understated look. This outfit is perfect for lunch with your in-laws, a weekend work event, or brunch with friends.
Edgy and Cool
Its all about the accessories here, I added a statement belt and retro sunnies to give an edgy feel. Sleek boots and a band tee add the cool factor making this look perfect for concerts, festivals, and more! Style Tip: Dark colors can seem heavy in the summer so I like to make sure there is a pop of color in my look and play that color up with accessories. Here I used my yellow tinted sunglasses to bring out the yellow in the t-shirt.
Let's get into the cutest errand running outfit, I paired my mini skirt with a light knit and classic sneakers. This look is perfect for running around on the weekend. I love to wear long sleeves if I am going in and out of building all day. (ie. grocery store and shopping malls) Anytime I wear sneakers I like to add details to elevate the look, here I paired a classic bag with a fun strap and chic designer sunglasses.
Date Night Glam
Taking our mini skirt from day to night only requires a few changes, first I added a dressier top in a light weight fabric. The clean lines in this top add elegance to a very simple look. I kept the jewelry minimal and added a western belt for interest. Lastly, I added a classic pump to keep the look chic but understated. Although I am showing a good amount of leg paired with a low cut top the simplicity keeps it from feeling too revealing.
That's my round-up on denim mini skirts, i hope this was helpful! I have added some inspo pictures below to keep those stylish juices flowing. Also remember the key to effectively wearing this trend along with most trends is finding the fit for your body type. Do a little research or try on several styles until you find the right one, but don't settle because you wont be comfortable and it will show. Lastly, let me know if there is anything you want to see on the blog.
